Some chains are exploring drive through options and many are focusing more on prepared foods and store-brand items that provide higher margins. Customer views are changing. Many perceive Wawa as much as a fast food provider as a gas station. There are 150,000 convenience stores in the US. Modest growth of 5% would indicate that 7,500 more locations will be needed in the near future.
