Restaurant Chains Have New Location Plans On Hold, But Unique Opportunities Post Virus

By Jay Wittner May 7, 2020

Due to the virus most restaurant chains have put their growth plans on hold. Concepts focused on off-premises dining are well positioned as virus restrictions are eased.  Reopening of restaurants won’t be instant, it takes longer to reopen facilities than to close them.  Experts believe that a significant percentage (perhaps 30%) of locally operated restaurants will not survive current conditions.  This will create a very friendly environment for tenants moving forward as landlords try to refill vacant locations.  Some locally based chains like Tampa’s Checkers should perform quite well in the coming environment.
